The Clothes Doctor. Caring for my cashmere and silk

Clothes Doctor

I’ve been chatting about my love for cashmere and silk for a few years and I have quite a selection in my wardrobe. The Clothes Doctor dropped an email and asked if I’d like to try out some of their products. I instantly said yes.

I want to care for my favourite materials to the best of my ability, and the Clothes Doctor website lured me in. It’s fascinating! The CLOTHING SPRITZ I’m using in the photo above is a great idea I think for refreshing silks in between washes and is lightly scented with white tea and mint and has antibacterial benefits.

What is the Clothes Doctor all about?

Looking into the website, The Clothes Doctor caters for so much. My first thoughts were looking after my silk and Cashmere, but there’s so much more information about different fabrics from how to look after sequins to getting bed bugs out of your clothes!

There’s many a care kit available too. A leather care kit caught my eye, as did the Darning Needle kit. I chose mainly products for my cashmere, silks and woollens but I now know where to look for any information about other materials that need attention and extra care.

I’ve chosen the Eco Wash for cashmere and wool. I want you to know how good it smells. Consisting of Himalayan cedarwood and orange oil, these ingredients are said to be moth-repelling as well, which I think is interesting, this is a gentle softening formula too.

You may remember one of my favourite cashmere pieces that I posted about last year from the Nearly New Cashmere Company. Well worth looking at and it’s good to know that I now have everything to hand to keep my cashmere as soft and in good condition.

Keeping moths at bay without the bad smell!

I’ve always refrained from using mothballs because of the smell of them. I’ve suffered one casualty in the past as well!

The Clothes Doctor also sent a PROTECT ME NATURAL MOTH REPELLENT SCENT BAG and it smells beautiful. Consisting of Lavender, Patchouli, Lemongrass, and Eucalyptus, I never knew moth repellent could smell so good. I can’t help thinking how these would make great gifts as well.

I’ve always washed my silks on a 30-degree delicate wash in the washing machine and I’ve had no problems other than slight fading to the colour of the silk. The ECO WASH FOR SILK AND DELICATES DETERGENT that’s also good for sensitive skin as well. This is an absolute bonus for me too as I’m super sensitive to detergents. It smells delicious! This will help stop the fade of colour as well.

One item that caught my eye on the Clothes Doctor website was the CREASE RELEASE SPRAY that you can spray onto your silks before ironing or steaming.

The silk dress above is one of my favourites but a little helping hand to get it back into its glossy state after being in the washing machine would be most welcomed. The STEAMER WATER – BLUE LILY AND BERGAMOT looks really good too.

A bonus item from The Clothes Doctor that I didn’t think I needed

Is anyone else guilty of using furniture spray on their leather goods? Yes, Guilty as charged! The SANDALWOOD LEATHER BALM was a welcome surprise. This came in a little mini-kit with a cloth and a natural sea sponge. Perfect for looking after all the accessories, especially the handbag that I need to keep looking pristine.

I’m extremely pleased with all the products that I received from The Clothes Doctor. Do take a look at what is available and also have a read on the website about how to care for different materials and repair methods. I found that interesting.
