It was light before 7 am this morning. Do you keep an eye on the time, when sunrises and sunsets at this time of year? It fills me with joy that winter is nearly over and I have so much more daylight time. I’m already thinking about the SS21 wardrobe and this week I’m featuring this corduroy blazer that’s going to work well with a lot of items I already have.
It’s many years since I’ve had any form of corduroy in my wardrobe and I don’t know why that is? But I spotted this corduroy Trail Blazer ( now on sale) from cotton traders on a TV advert. It was the colour that caught my eye before the material.
Now, you all know how much I love a blazer right? My wardrobe is full of them and I can’t wait to be able to wear them in the coming months. All of my blazers however are very tailored. I like how this corduroy version of a blazer gives off a more relaxed vibe.
Corduroy gives a nice soft casual effect
Deep patch pockets, One button to the front and two on the cuffs. It has a cute tiny polka dot lining and the quality is just as good as the first blazer, the Friday Blazer, (also on sale) that I received from Cotton traders.
I use wide hair bands to help keep the sleeves ruched up. Sleeves are always too long for me! Actually, the Friday blazer that I featured last year is now available in Ivory and I’m so tempted to buy!
I’ve paired the corduroy blazer with a cream boatneck three quarter-sleeved length T-shirt by cotton traders. It has cuffs and the material is a lot thicker than most brands. I’m very impressed with the quality. Actually, you can see the whole outfit I’m wearing here on an IGTV that I filmed when I unboxed this outfit. I think it’s so much better to see outfits on film, how they move, fit etc. You can connect and follow if you like it too!
The knife-edge pleated skirt is gorgeous too. Just look at all the colours in there? It’s going to be a great summertime piece to wear.
The Swishy Pleated Skirt in multicolour has an elasticated waist, although I still sized up as I do for all my pleated skirts. I feel they hang better that way. I’m wearing size 10/12 It has a lovely movement to it and this is also on sale at the moment.

How I accessorised the corduroy blazer
I kept things simple with accessorizing. Tan shades to blend with the outfit. My wooden watch that doesn’t seem to get enough outings. I don’t know why because it’s so unusual and I always get complimented when I wear it.
My Tan Rina bag from The Italian Handbag Company is a firm favourite. A brilliant design that you can wear casual or super smart. It goes with everything.
My Tan knee-high boots from Vionic Shoes deserve an award of their own. I think they are into their fourth year now. Pricey to buy but the cost per wear has worked out so well. And so comfortable! I’ve linked similar below.
My new Peepers Prescription sunglasses that I featured in the last fashion post complete the look. If you’re looking for purse-friendly prescription glasses or sunglasses, I totally recommend this brand. I have blue light readers too.

I can think of many ways to style this corduroy blazer. I’ve just filmed for Instagram, simple jeans and jumper with the blazer but I belted the waist. Do you have any corduroy in your wardrobe? I’d love to hear what you think about how I’ve put this look together.
Keep you and yours safe and well xx

Your outfit totally changed my opinion on corduroy, Laurie. It looks really nice, the fit is perfect, the colour is ideal, goes away with anything and your skirt is gorgeous.
Hi Laurie,
What a pretty jacket, love the neutral and warm shade, and the colors in your skirt are lovely! I do love a long skirt with long boots too!
thanks for linking!

Thanks Jess. The jacket goes with a lot more in my wardrobe than I realised. I will be wearing it a lot when I can get out more xx
I had a cord jacket as a kid I loved and wore until it started falling apart! it was my favourite! I don’t have any in my wardrobe now though, definitely an oversight!
I really like your skirt in this outfit too – such a great statement piece and a nice texture with the blazer 🙂

Funny you should say that Alison. I’ve just filmed it with jeans for the gram xx
Beautiful outfit, Laurie! I love corduroy and have a few different corduroy blazers myself. I can see why the color of this one appealed to you. It looks magnificent on you. And the colors in your skirt are so beautiful for stepping into spring! I have been noticing that it is still light almost until 6 pm now and that makes me very excited! Thanks for linking!

I used to have lots of corduroy back in the day. You styled this jacket beautifully. xx

Thanks so much Hilda xx
Laurie, I adore this look! That blazer is stunning, and I can why the colour first appealed to you. I’m really drawn to pinks at the moment as well. I went through a corduroy trousers stage a few years ago but I’ve seen given them all away so I don’t think I have a single item in my wardrobe in corduroy any more. Hm? Must change that, because I do like it!

This is the first item of corduroy I’ve had in many years too Suzy. I like that it’s a smart blazer yet on the casual side if that makes any sense! xx
This is such a pretty look with the mix of textures! Love the color of your blazer! Great tip for keeping the sleeves up!

I love the mix of texture and the brown pairs really well with the blue. I haven’t worn any corduroy in a long time, I think I use to have a brown blazer at some point as well as a brown mini skirt.

It makes a nice material change Mireille! xx
I can’t remember when I wore corduroy , I think when I was a child. Should give it a try. Oh yes, it’s getting lighter earlier and earlier. I love it, love the mornings in spring when it’s still a bit chilly, birds are singing and you know it wil be a sunny day!!

isn’t it just lovely Nancy xx
I haven’t worn corduroy for decades but I am loving your new blazer Laurie, it’s very becoming and looks great over the pleated swishy skirt.

Thanks Anna xx
Love it all Laurie, I had a cheaper blazer from Primark years ago – that was really well used. I can see this will be a brilliant addition to your wardrobe. Thanks for sharing on #Chicandstylish today. Jacqui

A case of having to ruche those sleeves Gail! It’s a good trick for us Petites xx
I’ve certainly noticed we’ve got more daylight, and it’s a delight doing my two days as week commute both ways in daylight. Bring on Spring!
That cord blazer is gorgeous – and reminds me I’ve got a very similar one – and how delightful is that pleated skirt. I’d wear this outfit in a heartbeat! xxx
