Laura Ashley Feminine V Masculine

I’m sharing my post with Laura Ashley today. I have long been a fan of the brand and I can still remember my first ever visit at the Kings Road store when I was just around ten years old. My house host’s a lot of the brand’s homeware (I particularly like their lighting) and I have always found the fashion good quality and stylish. So I’m very proud to be featuring on the Laura Ashley blog.

Choosing something from the new collection was a tough choice, and you must take a look at the site to see all the latest beautiful prints for Spring/Summer. Divided into sections the romantically named collections of Vintage Romance – English Toile – Homespun – Simple Life and Terracotta

I have chosen this Blush Pink ruffled edged sweater from the Vintage-Romance collection and I fell in love with these trousers That are flared and my favourite style. The outfit combined is feminine with a masculine edginess to the outfit.

I love the frilled or fluted sleeve trend that’s around at the moment and have had a job finding the right length for my petite/short arms. This sweater has a frill at the cuff, but it’s well fitted at the wrist so I can get away with this.

The trousers are like a tweed effect but not tweed. A speckle in the material makes them look like this but they are actually light in weight and not bulky. I love the masculine cut of these trousers. They have a slight pleat in the front, but still flattering on the tummy and I think they would be great office wear with a white shirt. They are so comfortable!

If you want to grab a pair, they are on special offer at the moment Here reduced from £75.00 down to £37.00 so be quick!

Are you loving the Ruffle trend that is everywhere at the moment? I feel at my age, even though I love all the frills and ruffles you have to be careful. That’ s why I chose the masculine style trousers to tone it down a bit. Oh, and excuse the windswept look! I was at a local park with my daughter and the grandchildren. A very windy day indeed. My Grandson was telling me where to stand and how to have the photo taken – very bossy!

And made me promise that I would publish this one on the blog! I look like I’m going to be Birdnapped!
XO Laurie

Great setting for the shoot! I think you are right using the masculine trousers to balance out the jumper so it doesn't look mumsy – which some frills can. I love that soft pink too. Thanks for joining us again Laurie. #TweensTeensBeyond

This whole look really appeals to me Laurie. I think you did a great job choosing the ying and yang as it were. The sweater has some lovely touches, in particular, the cuffs with buttons and frills and yet doesn't look too fussy. And likewise the trousers with those pleats that could have created bulk and yet don't. Laura Ashley have some lovely pieces this season. Well done with this collab x

    Have a great week x

Thank you Anna. If the trousers were not so long on my short legs, I would say these trousers would match your brogues beautifully. x

Pink and grey is one of my favorite color combinations, especially for the office, for the exact reasons you stated. It's a mix of feminine and masculine that looks so good! I'm all about ruffles right now and I'm loving your top!

you look absolutely lovely, Laurie, despite the wind and messy hair. I am not a big fan of frills not because of our age but I think they simply do not suit me but your top looks very lovely on you, both in style and colour. Great idea to pair it with masculine looking trousers

    • February 25, 2017 / 7:44 pm

Thank you Anna. I think I needed to be careful and not be too girlie. I love all the frills that are on trend at the moment. But they have to be worn with age and fit. Being very short large frills would not suit me . xx

Thank you so much Amy xx

  21. February 23, 2017 / 7:30 pm

Such a crisp, professional look. That sweater is just the right amount of flirty! Love the ruffles. I need to try tucking things in again. I think tops look crisper tucked in. Thanks so much for linking up with us at The Blended Blog.

    • February 25, 2017 / 7:40 pm

Thank you Leslie. I think tucking in leaves the space to add a contrasting accessesories xx

  22. February 23, 2017 / 2:50 pm

Congrats Laurie! Boy, I would have a tough time choosing too, but the Vintage romance sounds up my alley! I also like the Terracotta. Lovely sweater and those trousers look great, they will be a staple piece in your wardrobe! ( I dont think they ship to the US)
    Have a great weekend

Love that last pic – well spotted, grandson. I'm not doing well with ruffles, have had several attempts to wear a ruffled blouse since December and still haven't left the house in it! Yours is so pretty and suits you well. My house has LA lighting too and I love their fabrics.

    • February 25, 2017 / 7:27 pm

Is that the one I commented on Mary? Why not?!! Those LA lights huh? I always want them all! Need to get saving! xx

  26. February 22, 2017 / 2:23 pm

OH wow I LOVE that last photo with you and the bird. Gorgeous!!! The outfit is really pretty, I have a thing for wide legged trousers so completely fell in love with these the moment I saw them. I also love those sleeves (the cuffs), they've got a little Victorian feel to them, don't they?
I must say, I've never even been into a Laura Ashley shop, I always thought they were all florals and floaty fabrics. I couldn't have been wrong, could I?! Next time I'm in the UK, I should go and have a proper look! You really do look beautiful!
    Suzy xx

    • February 25, 2017 / 7:22 pm

Thank you so much for your lovely comment Suzy! I think you need to pay a visit when your in the UK. Some is floral, Some is classic, and some is bang on trend. So a good mixture. xx

I've never really been a fan of Laura Ashley but I do like this look – maybe I should give them another chance!
