A very busy month for me. Trying to fit in the blog and Youtube channel has been difficult this past month as everything comes to an end at mothers. September has gone and I’m looking forward to getting back to normal before this new October is through. I did have some fun though…
It’s been a pretty casual month too. I’m either popping to the shop or see family while here in Essex or I’m filling a skip clearing out garages and greenhouses!
The T-shirt and bag add a nice pop of colour. I’ve worn this jacket a lot and I’m considering buying the same in the new Faux suede version that’s such a gorgeous colour. The bag is great bargain at only £18.00 !!
I did escape back to London for a day out
I attended the Boots Christmas event with Ashley from Lazy Daisy Jones and I left with a huge goodie bag that I’m going to film about. They have some amazing advent calendars this year. Do you have one in mind that you would like?
I’ve never had one yet and I’m still deciding which one to choose, but I’m tempted by the No.7 one I wonder sometimes if they are worth the money. You can guarantee I have to buy my own!
I’ve had a good laugh over these!
Finding these 1970 how high? shoes that were mums! How she walked about in these I will never know. I did chat about these on my Instagram saying how I remember her coming home miserable because she had worn odd shoes to work after getting ready in the dark for work!
I’m keeping these on a shelf in my room to remind me of how much she inspired me growing up. To love fashion just as she did. Mum loved chatting about the blog daily on the phone, always showing interest.
The jumpers are out! Time to start getting cosy. Like I said a very casual wardrobe this month. I just added the bag and shoes and I was ready to go. The hair was out of control and a couple of inches has been chopped off since this photo!
What I’ve been buying
This White shirt from Mango caught my eye. A plain basic White shirt that will work with everything. I have either fitted white shirts or silk ones and I wanted to get something a little more casual and found this. It’s gone into sale since I bought it too for £19.99 No photos as of yet, they’re on their way promise! The MANGO New collection is absolutely amazing this year and any pennies saved will be spent there! I have a huge list!
I also bought this skirt from Zara. Have you been caught up in the animal print trend? This skirt has a split up the front to my knee, but I prefer to wear it to the side. A good price for what you get at £29.99
If you love Phase Eight check this film for all the upcoming AW18 I went to the press event some time ago but prefer to post now because items are only just available. There’s a lot of Essex drawl going on here! You have been warned!

looking beautiful. I liked it.
I’ve bought the M&S advent calendar the last couple of years…the only problem is getting to it before Isobel does! Mango are really on it this season, I’m usually more of a Zara gal but lately it’s Mango that’s tempting me to spend! The jeans are really good! Thanks for linking up!

It’s nice to be gifted one? I love the surprises xx
Oh I do like the look of that Zara skirt Laurie and yes, I’d wear it like you say too! You can’t go wrong with a cosy sweater at this time of year and paired with a good pair of jeans is a no-brainer. I wore a polo neck with some jeans to help out at church recently and one of my followers asked why I don’t feature this kind of look on the blog. Note to self – I ought to do that!
Keep up the good work!

It’s good to share everyday style I think. I don’t want everyone to think I waft around dressed up every day! I’m human! xx
Love your outfit Laurie, the light coloured jumper really suits you. I love the jumper/jeans look, I totally rock that one – I can’t wait for it to get colder. 🙂

As I write this at nearly 11pm it’s still really warm! I haven’t even got my winter wardrobe out yet and I’m wondering if I will need to at this rate! Not complaining! xx
What a lovely outfit Laurie. You look warm and so stylish, love your jeans and jumper. My Mum had some shoe’s similar to your mums, I remember trying to walk in them when I was about 5 years old. I always loved dressing up in my Mums shoes. I use to take them on the garden and do a fashion show, ha!
Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays 🙂

I love the bag with the bottom outfit, super cute! I spotted Boot’s advent calendars the other day in town but the only one I really looked at was Peppa Pig hahah! I would have got it for Ben but its £25!!!! Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week.

Hi Laurie,
I wondered if you knew if Havren are still selling? Their website is not showing any new collections. I found this lovely brand through your site and would be sad if it’s no longer producing their lovely clothes! Thanks, Sophie x

Laurie, what a fitting keepsake–the shoes AND the beautiful flowy wide-legged black pants! I didn’t keep any of my mother’s clothes, but I love using her dishes and pots and pans because we shared a love of cooking. ~ Jean

That’s really awesome that you and your mom were close and shared your passions for fashion. Super cool! September flew by for me so it must have been on fast and furious speed for you. I am glad that you are slowly getting back into the swing of things though. Nothing quite like coming back to a routine, right? That Zara skirt look fabulous – beautiful print.

Those shoes of your mom’s are such a fabulous keepsake! I’m working on getting my dad’s estate taken care of too. There’s still quite a bit that needs done…sometimes it seems never ending. I’m glad that there is light at the end of the tunnel for you! PS…love that last outfit!

Those shoes are simply amazing. You know, I real enjoy seeing you in your mufti, keeps it real, though with your normal uber glam life I doubt if you have much opportunity for casual! Glad you’re coming to the end of this hard and traumatic time. It’s wonderful how your mum was able to share part of your exciting journey, you made her proud every day, of that I’m sure. Hugs, x.

Love your Mum’s shoes, and I love even more that you’re keeping them on a shelf in your room! I think it’s lovely how you got to share your passion for fashion with your Mum! I was actually looking at that Zara skirt today, but then thought I’d look to see if I could find a vintage one first 😉 Hope you have a good October and you’ll get to see the end of clearing your Mum’s house! xxx
