I hope you are all well? That could be the first three words written on here for some time. Of course, I hope you are always well but things have really been shaken up, haven’t they? I’m not saying anymore on the dreaded Coronavirus but I will be talking about it in my next post. Let’s forget it exists, make a cuppa and chill. I had a surge in anti-ageing treatments sent to me the past couple of months ( literally at once!) and I’ve been trying them out. Here are my thoughts. If there’s ever a time to pamper ourselves it’s now!
You may know of the Tria beauty brand from QVC or you may have read my post about the Tria Age-Defying Laser that I use. I lost it in the move recently and only realised how good and effective it really is after not using it for a few weeks.
I was gifted another beauty gadget from Tria to try that excited me even more. The Tria Laser Hair Remover. You may not see this as anti-ageing but I do. Especially if this gets rid of the silver hairs I can never see! Haha.
Now, I don’t worry too much about hairy legs or armpits. I either go through a phase of waxing when I can be bothered or I just shave. What I’m really anal about is facial hair! I swear if I left my chin alone for a couple of weeks I could sport a good goaty!
Armed for anti-ageing & getting rid of that facial hair!
So getting to road test this gadget for you really excites me. Once I’ve had my morning cuppa and I head into the bathroom, a thorough check under my x’s 10 magnifying mirror is the first thing I reach for. I really am that OCD about my chin hair! Here’s what Tria has to say
” The first and only clinically-proven laser available for home use, the Hair Removal Laser 4X uses the same diode laser technology preferred by dermatologists to target and permanently disable the hair follicle to stop hair growth for permanent results.”
I’ve been using the Tria for three weeks now on my chin and upper lip and I already have less hair growth! This makes me happy. They’re not completely gone but there’s a remarkable improvement.
How does it feel? Once turned on, you just apply to your skin and it zaps a laser beam for around a second. It doesn’t hurt at all but the skin feels warm after. I will be sharing a short film on stories next week. And there will be a full blog post on my thoughts. I’m going to give you a full write up in the next couple of weeks about it. I’m moving onto my armpits next!
A new anti-ageing skincare journey
I’m really pleased to be working alongside the Prai beauty brand for the near future. I’m road testing the new Platinum range.
I was advised not to use any of my normal skincare for a week prior to using this to get true results from the brand and I can tell you it was tough! I really noticed a difference not moisturising.
The plan is to take one photo a week without makeup for four weeks so that you can all see and hear about my journey of using this new skincare range. I still use the Ageless throat and decolletage cream that I wrote about. I’m on my third pot! I won’t be without it.
I bloody hate doing these no make up photos! But needs must and it’s all part of the job. So here is the first photo and you will see the rest in the full write up.
I hope I’m as impressed with the new Platinum anti-ageing range specifically produced for the mature woman during menopause. I like Prai for its price point and the fact that it delivers. There are so many creams that I try and they just don’t do what they say on the tin. I’m looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you.
Do go and have a good read about the Platinum collection. It’s worth a look.
Adding a little extra to my routine with Skin Chemists
I really wish that I had started using Retinol products long before now. I’ve been extremely pleased with the Skin Chemists Retinol 0.3% serum. I have really sensitive skin and that’s why I held off using it. I haven’t had any irritation from using it at all.
The key benefits of using Retinol
Retinol can reduce the appearance of ageing with impressive results
• Helps to defy signs of ageing – including softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and uneven tone.
• A powerful form of Vitamin A, Retinol encourages cell turnover, revealing healthier, softer skin while also tackling blemishes and dark spots
My skin is so much clearer after using this serum twice a week. I have large pores around my nose and chin area and it’s my aim to tighten and shrink the little blighters this year.
The team at Skin Chemists recommend that I use Salicylic Acid in these areas. I’ve used it twice now and will report back my thoughts. But I totally recommend the Retinol 100% There’s a £5 discount for new accounts and free worldwide shipping over £25 The serums aren’t expensive either at £19.99 for the Retinol.
New hair remedies for fuller hair
I was really pleased to receive this new, to me set of hair products by Percy And Reed. Have any of you used it before? I love the prints on the canisters!
I need something to tame my frizzy hair and I also need something to thicken the front of my hair on the right-hand side. Our hair follicles dying as we age is a real bummer, isn’t it?
I’ve used the Dry Instant Volumising Spray on my dry unsettled hair and it certainly adds the volume. I haven’t tried the others yet though. I think I will do a start to finish hairstyling with these products on film over on my YouTube channel.
The range is purse-friendly, the brand has many awards and I’m optimistic about using these. There’s a quiz you can take on the Percy And Reed website so that you can be recommended the right products for your hair concerns too. Worth a look.

What a great day Laurie, you are wearing some lovely outfits 🙂 Thanks for sharing at Creative Mondays 🙂 Hope you can join us tomorrow.
Laurie this post is perfect in addressing all my midlife beauty issues at the moment. I have been looking at Prai for a while now as many have raved about it and did pop back to your other post on it. I will be interested to see how you get on with this range. Also have been considering retinol for a while now but have been so nervous as my skin is fair, freckly and very sensitive, will check out this one you mention further. As for thinning hair omg! This ageing process can be harsh. Hope you are keeping well and I have to say you look gorgeous without makeup! Take care. Jo x
Have you tried face yoga or anything like that? Some of the routines seem to be the same length as using the machine. Just wondered if so, what your recommendations would be and if the machine is a better fix?
Such great products! I am very interested in the hair products for fuller hair. I am always trying to find ways to make my hair have more volume. Thanks for sharing and linking up, Laurie!

Great timing with lockdown to have these products to trial. Apart from moisturising every day and factor 50 face cream I don’t worry about anti ageing products, I find just putting some make up on makes me feel fresher and more vibrant, good luck with them and look forward to seeing how they work. Hope you are both well and thanks for linking up with #pocolo and hope to see you back tomorrow
I’m so excited to hear all about the PRAI brand and your experiences with those products. I’m eyeing this brand for some time now and would like to know how if it works.

Well, this is the perfect time to try out these products, right? I like the hair products and I know about the face hair-sounds like a good product. I enjoy getting skin care to try as well. I look forward to hearing how you like the Platinum line too.
take care Laurie.

Found you over at the weekend traffic jam link party. As an over 50 woman I have in the last year started getting those fine lines and hairs! OMGosh freaking hairs on my chin. I pluck first thing every morning. Drives me batty.

I also have a thing about chin and neck hairs – it’s terrible when you find yourself in bright sunlight and a long white hair suddenly reveals itself, when you were convinced you had got rid of them all! So this gadget sounds very interesting.
No new finds lately; I have started a new jar of the Prai neck cream, and I need to get another bottle of hyaluronic acid serum – wouldn’t be without it now. Thanks for sharing at #WowOnWednesday.

I love anything Hyaluronic Gail. I’m looking forward to reporting back on the laser xx
I use Prai neck creams too and like them. That retinol looks to be very good value. Thanks Laurie.
I need all the help I can get where aging is concerned#anythinggoes@_karendennis
I use Prai too for the neck! I am looking forward to your reviews about their other products!
I’m going to give PRP – platelet rich plasma a go for my hair and I will let you know how it goes! Apparently it is painful, but I can take a bit of pain. I’m also a big believer in laser for skin improvement and hair removal and I’ve recently tried microdermabrasion, radio frequency and LED light and god I could see a difference after one treatment!! But really my little chicken neck will need a surgical lift I think!! Thank you for sharing the technologies you’ve been trying!! And hope you and your family are keeping well at this time!!
