Well, it’s the 6th of July as I write this. A bit late for an end of month post! But Sometimes this little blog takes me places and I get to do different things. This past month has certainly been busy in that respect.
Let’s start with the clothes that I’ve been wearing
At last, the weather warmed up. We’ve had some glorious days. This floral print dress is really lightweight and easy to wear. A button through dress that’s not fitted with a wide gathered hem. I love this new on-trend floral design. So many brands have a floral design like this in their collection. Very similar to the Dior Toile De Jouy print.
The white mules have been worn several times. These mix with anything in my wardrobe. I find them to be a good deceiver when I’m wearing white jeans too. They make my legs look longer!
The pink Linen shirt has been a favourite. Who cares about the creases? It’s just so comfortable and casual. Pink has been very much a go-to colour for me this year so far.
I paired the shirt with floral straight legged trousers. You can wear so many colours on your top half with these trousers. I’ve paired them with cream, pink, green and lemon.
I bought the Geox sandals on sale last year. They have their own technology that goes into making their shoes very comfortable and after having a couple of pairs I can vouch for that. Their summer sale has started too, just click on the box below to go there.
An evening event on a very warm and muggy night, I decided to go smart casual with the satin pink top and jeans. I’ve worn this top a lot and Looking at Marks and Spencer online I don’t think it’s available now but I did find something very similar. I find tops like this work perfectly day or night, plus I like the high neckline.
The bag I have loved, there’s that popular floral print again! It works well with all the pink items I’ve collected. I just realised that the trousers in the last photo are a similar print too. I’m obviously drawn in!
An evening with Trinny
I had the pleasure of going to the launch party for Trinny Woodall’s new premises “Trinnys HQ” I enjoyed browsing all the new products, there are so many different shades of everything now, something to suit everyone. It’s amazing how fast the Trinny London brand has rocketed to one of the top selling makeup brands.
Trinny’s BFF is still my “Best Forever Friend” I wear this base/foundation on a daily basis and love it. You can read my post about it here. Worn on its own or like I do mix it with my foundation it makes my skin look the best it’s looked for ages and I like the high SPF content.
I always like someone showing me ways t0 wear eye make up. I really like the new shades used but I always revert back to my natural colour palettes. I only tend to wear dark colour on my eyes on a night out.
A day trip into the Kings Road
I just had to take a quick snap of this Gallery window. I had a browse inside actually and it was really lovely. There are some really good prints and artwork. You can have a little browse here to see inside. They have some good events coming up too.
I wore clothes that were smart yet comfortable for my trip into the king’s road. My timeless Baukjen Blazer is working hard for me. You can’t beat a classic blazer to create a smart look I think.
My first time at Peggy Porschen’s
I live in London yet I’ve not visited Peggy Porschen’s before! I was invited for tea with the lovely Pr ladies from Marks And Spencer for the afternoon to chat about what they have coming into store, clothes and beauty.
I left with some of the items from the beauty box that’s currently available. £120.00 worth of beauty for a mere £15.00 when you spend £40.00 or more. I’m really enjoying the Rosie illuminator that’s included. You can find the beauty box here
Peggy Porschen’s is really a very pretty, floral place. I enjoyed browsing all the stunning looking cakes and enjoyed having a browse around. I did a little bit of filming there, so there’s more to be seen on my Youtube channel.
Another gallery opening
Quite a while back I was invited on a photo shoot at the V&A in London to be included in an exhibition by Rachel Vogeleisen A portraits photographer. Rachel has been working a long time on this exhibition about women in their 50’s and reinventing themselves.
Rachel contacted me to chat about me, a woman in her 50’s that decided to start blogging. There are a few women showcased in this exhibition that I already know. Tricia who created Look Fabulous Forever who has done remarkably well designing and creating make up for women in their mature stage of life. I feel honoured to have been asked to take part in this exhibition. It feels strange to know I’m on a gallery wall!
Telegraph feature
You may remember a while back about my interview with the Telegraph? I’m leaving the short film below for you. You can tell that I’m the Essex girl living in London in the film! My Essex drawl used to worry me lots but I’ve learned to shrug it off. I am who I am.
The cover photo is bloody awful!
I remember the day well. Sitting in huge gardens and it blowing a gale! They wanted to film at home but I was staying with friends in Essex at the time because one of the grandchildren was unwell.
I remember thinking about what clothes to wear for the shoot, and after all that worry you barely get to see that anyway. I’m not overly happy with the film but I’m very grateful for the coverage.
As I said, I’m just a girl who loves clothes and started this blog as a little hobby. What’s age got to do with it? Just browsing through this post I have to think “how did I get here”?! Galleries, and being filmed etc. Who’d have thought? One of the best things about blogging for me has been the new friends I’ve made and the places it’s taken me.
There’s not enough of us over 50 bloggers out there, and if I can do it then anyone can! If you have any questions or are thinking about blogging please send me a message and I will help any way that I can.
One skincare review finishes and another starts
You may have seen my review on the Espa skincare last week? I was delighted to be invited to trial the Prai skincare range. I’ve heard a lot about this range and the rumours are very good. Aimed at helping the eye, throat and bust area, if you’re a regular reader here you will already know how I hate my neck. I hope this is the miracle product that I need!
I’ve already tried the Ageless Lip Line Filler and was wowed! I will be filming for stories on Instagram how this works, so do look out for that. You can find the Prai range in Marks And Spencers here. The price point is very good and I’m looking forward to trying this range.
Other beauty news
One of my favourite make up brands has launched a new eye make up remover formulated for our older skin that will condition lashes while removing your eye make up. I’m looking forward to trying this along with the new eye shades I’ve been sent to try.
I like neutral shades and I already know that the Taupe and the pink colour will be my favourites. One thing I like about the Look Fabulous Forever Eye shadows is that they are completely matt and this helps disguise crepey eyes.
I have a discount offer of 15% for my readers. I will leave the code below for you. If you want to take a look at the Look Fabulous Forever range.
So my June was a busy month! Just before I go, I’m leaving a link to my ladies day at Royal Ascot, another highlight of June. Just listen to the excited Essex girl! Haha!

Hi! It was an unusually busy month! xx
The blue floral midi dress looks so cute. I checked the next.sg online shop if I could still buy it, but it is already sold in my size. Pity. I watched your interview for the Telegraph. How amazing! Love it.

Thanks Anna! Do keep a check online because they re-stock xx
Thank you, thank you, thank you. While I never think about being a girl that loves clothes, that is me. At 77 I can dress in blue jeans or in summer white and still feel great about myself. I love beautiful clothes and think that I often buy them just so I can look at them in my closet. 🙂 Have a wonderful day. Found you on Women of Midlife.

ps: I do need to pay closer attention to my Instagram account…it is looking pretty sad.

Hi Sam. Thank you. The dress is perfect for the warm weather, not restrictive and super lightweight xx
What a busy month! Peggy Porschen looks amazing! I picked up the M&S beauty box last week – I don’t think it’s as good value as previous ones but still definitely worth buying for £15. I love your blue and white Summer dress, and the pink M&S blouse is fabulous – I love big sleeves. Congrats on the Telegraph feature!

Oh Mary! An unusual month for me! It’s not glam all the time you know! And I’m quite pleased because I would never keep up! xx
So much loveliness to choose from, Laurie! I especially love the blue and white floral dress, which I’m sure is the perfect Summer dress. The pink satin blouse worn with jeans is a gorgeous combo too! Oh, and I do agree with the others that you’re the most fabulous “instagran” in that video! Well done, fabulous you! xxx

I love the ‘instagrans’ video, Laurie! I think you look and sound fab! Your accent is just you and I love that about you <3
I had been noticing that my neck was starting to look a little wrinkly and so a friend of mine gave me a sample of Prai a few months ago. I was amazed at how well it worked! I need to get some more because it ran out pretty quickly lol.

Good to hear that about the Prai brand Suzy. As I said, I’ve heard nothing but good about this brand xx
The Peggy Porschen cafe looks gorgeous, no wonder it’s featured on Instagram so often! I shouldn’t worry about the Essex accent – I have a Devon accent even though I haven’t lived there since the early 80s! It used to bother me but now I just think it’s one of my quirks. Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!

Reassuring words Gail! I’m coming to terms with the fact that people will have to take me or leave me! I really want to get into the filming and you have to talk on there! xx

Hi Sophie. It’s lovely to hear from you again. Thanks for the encouraging words. Believe it or not, I need encouragement often xx
Well havent you had the best month, looked amazing! You look fabulous in whatever you wear, you know I think that as I always tell you. I only wish I could wear clothes as stylish as you make everything look! Being a fellow Essex girl, I totally get how you feel. I always think I sound so blooming common, but we are what we are doll, no heirs and graces with us haha!
Hi Laurie,
You look fabulous, and I must say you look very worthy of being in the Royal box at Wimbledon in that pretty blue summery dress, give Kate and Meghan a run for their money for sure,
You dress so appropriate for your petite height, I too am 5ft 2 but 9st 10lbs, I want to get to 9st which is a nice weight for me. Any dietary tips Laurie as I remember you are 9st? I am 65 and too much weight loss can make an older women look scrawny, you look just right.
Keep up the blog/vlog it’s great.
Love Pamela from Wales UK x
What a fabulous month! You have some really beautiful outfits too.
Oh Laurie, what a wonderful post! I’m so happy for you. What a great time you’re having and you are indeed one of the forerunners of women forging the way for our generation today. These are exciting times and I’m so proud of you and all that you’re achieving. Hurrah for you darling xxx
All of your outfits were adorable and you seem to have a great eye for the colours and shapes to show yourself off to best effect! I couldn’t seem to find those instagrammers but they certainly nail my thoughts on ageing, fashion and social media. You always sound great, Laurie and I love your warmth and authenticity!! As always, thank you for sharing, Donna 🧚🏻♀️❤️🙏 donnadoesdresses.com
You look gorgeous in whatever you wear!! Congratulations on all the great experiences you are enjoying as a blogger!
I agree withNancy you look natural and beautiful not (funky or quirky ) I want to be like you when I grow up! Xxxx
Oh come on Laurie, don’t be so hard on yourself! You’re the most beautiful gran in that video! You had a very interesting month! Fabulous.
What fun. So many goodies. I loved the video because I discovered other women of a certain age to follow on Instagram. We women need to stick together and support one another. I must look into Trinny’s site and see her goodies. I’ll also go back and watch some of your YouTube videos. It’s nice getting to know you. I didn’t know there was an Essex accent. I’m from the USA. So of course I wouldn’t know. But I do love your Royals and love Brits!
