A Christmas Bauble Or Two & Sales Post

Hi Everyone. It’s coming around fast, isn’t it? Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? It’s around this time of year that I start to look for a special Christmas Bauble or two. I have a huge tree, way too big for my living room but I don’t care! And each year I add a little something special to it.

John Lewis Christmas tree

I bought my tree around eight years ago and it’s over 8ft tall. I bought loads of cheap baubles to add to my collection of special keep forever ones to help fill it. I have baubles dating back thirty years from when I had my firstborn and that’s why I love my tree so much because it’s full of memories. It’s a very traditional tree with all different types of decoration. I do like themed trees but for me, it’s tradition all the way. Actually, my youngest son had a themed tree last year of white and silver and on the green tree, it looked amazing & very tempting. But I love unwrapping my memories each year and couldn’t imagine it any other way.

So. I’m sharing some of my favourite Christmas Baubles with you that have caught my eye.

Harrods

harrods christmas baubles

I have two Christmas Baubles from Harrods purchased after going to see the Christmas parade. Have you ever been? I absolutely amazing! It’s around November time and you have to get there really early. It’s a fantastic parade and they even have snow machines on top of the building so that it’s snowing in the street! Then Father Christmas comes along and opens the Christmas shop. If you have any children or grandchildren I really recommend it.

Here are my picks from Harrods

Liberty’s

One of my favourite London stores. You can always find something aa little different and special at Liberty’s

TK Maxx

Christmas Baubles

This is the best place to find sets of glass baubles for a good price. You can find something different in TK Maxx for a fraction of the price of high end stores.

Tesco

Of course the odd bauble always ends up in the shopping trolley! I always buy the grandchildren an unbreakable from here and add it to their Christmas wrapping.

Anthropologie

You can bet you will find something quirky at Anthropologie. I love the soft figures here

Graham and Green

I love these christmas tree baubles

Graham and Green is quite new to me. I stumbled across this gorgeous interior shop via browsing online. I love the feather baubles. I’m really into anything feathery at present, but don’t expect any feather boa’s! Just for the home!

Do you have any extra special Christmas tree Baubles that you use year after year? Is there a special story behind any of them?

That’s what’s caught my eye so far! Good job I have that large tree huh? I will try to stick to only a couple of extra special ones! Let me know what your favourites are.

I think it’s a lovely idea to have baubles that are associated with happy memories. I read a post by someone who bought a Christmas decoration every time she travelled abroad and so I thought I’d try to do the same – so far I’ve only managed one! I suppose the time of year makes a big difference to availability! Nice idea though. I love the Harrods and Liberty baubles.

Such beautiful pretty baubles , I may have to get a little tree for my room for all the pretty stuff. The teens are insistent on a tree of geek Doctor Who /Harry Potter/Star Wars themed tree this year….. I blame Etsy!! #TweensTeensBeyond

It’s lovely that you keep baubles that mean a lot to you. Funnily enough, we got some special ornaments when my daughter was born, then the year after ( last year) I made some baubles with her hand prints. 10 years from now, who knows, I might have a whole collection of really special baubles 🙂 lovely post x

we have several trees around our house and they’re decorated with baubles and trinkets collected from around the world, from places we have lived and from our travels, plus we still add the items the kids have made over the years also

We, too, have a very tall tree – 9′ to be exact. It definitely needs a lot of baubles to keep it festive and I love all of the selections you provided. The ones from Harrods are especially unique, but I do love the others as well. I’m always on the search for new ones – so glad you shared some of your favourites.

Your tree sounds a lot like ours! My parents started buying each of us kids our own ornament each year and so when I moved into my home with my husband we had quite a collection already. It was a tradition we kept up; buying each other a new ornament each year typically one that symbolized a life change or a vacation we took that year. The ornaments always bring back such wonderful memories.

I love the whole tree decorating thing and every year we have a 9ft tree but I am a bit OCD about it. Over the years I have collected loads of decorations and love adding more each year but they have to be the right colour. My kids learnt very quickly when they were younger not to expect their homemade decorations to get a look in so they had their own mini tree that they used to decorate in all its gaudy glory! Graham & Green is a favourite haunt of mine as is Liberty. It is a Christmas ritual to go there and buy a couple of really fabulous baubles each year! In fact we are off there on Sunday. #TweensTeensBeyond

Our tree is over 8ft tall too! My tree has been on a theme ever since we bought it – red and gold – I do love your selection of baubles though… maybe it’s time to change my theme?

Hi Laurie! I’m still being bah humbug and pretending Christmas is ages away 🙂 But I do love the decs once they are finally up – and my husband is a pretty dab hand at the artistic bit – I tend to just chuck them all on. I love the memories too! I remember one year when my eldest two were 1 and 3 and the whole tree was decorated with empty toilet roll tubes with blobs of glitter and cotton wall balls (snow!) on them! My sister who is very house proud couldn’t believe we’d keep it like that but we did – the kids loved it and so did we. Lots of love Lisa xxx #TweensTeensBeyond

I have so many special Christmas Tree baubles from my childhood and these make up the bulk of our decorations. My mom always ensured that my brothers and I would have a bauble each year and by the time we all grew up and left the house- we had enough to decorate our trees. I love taking them out each year and remembering the stories behind each one!

I love Christmas decorations but for the past few years we’ve started going away at Christmastime so it’s pointless putting them up. It’s a bit of a bummer but we’re usually away for a month so it seems silly to come back to Christmas trees, etc in mid January. I do love visiting other people’s homes though to see their festive decor. I spotted some Harry Potter baubles the other day. I’d have bought them if I was Christmasssing at home!!

I’m not really a Christmas person, so I haven’t done any shopping or anything yet. I do have a tree each year, a faux one we bought many years ago, and it’s full of memories too. It’s got some baubles which used to belong to my husband’s parents and some candles (real ones, but just for show, obviously) which used to belong to mine. The rest are ornaments picked up over the years, often at flea markets. xxx

Sounds lovely Ann. My mother as some baubles from her first year of marriage and I think it’s the memories that flood back each year that there hung that makes them so special.

  19. November 12, 2017 / 12:58 pm

What a great post. We all love our baubles! I am always nostalgic for the type of baubles we had in the 70s – the ones that had a chunk cut out of them, if you remember. I have a little bird decoration I love which I bought in Oberammergau in Germany at their Xmas shop that’s open all year.

Oh I loved to hear your stories about Christmas and tree baubles and decorating. So touching. There are some tempting beauties in your post.
I add to my collection each year by taking the GKs to choose one each, then I choose one or two if something catches my eye. My tree favourites are some little doves that I made years ago. I hand made nearly 80 and sent them as Christmas cards but kept a few for me. White bodies, wings made of pleated coloured patterned paper, glass jewels for eyes and coloured feathers for tails. I wrote my Christmas message on the body. Can you imagine how long that took me?!!
    Merry Christmas, x!
