A Review – Optimum Skincare Range By Superdrug

I was delighted to be sent a whole box of goodies from Superdrug containing their new Optimum skincare range. I’ve been trialling for a while and here are my thoughts.

The Optimum range is super affordable – not one item is over £15.00  Each item that I used didn’t upset my sensitive skin at all and none of it is over fragranced. So if you have super sensitive skin I would recommend that you give this range a try.

*This skincare range was gifted to me from Superdrug and this post contains affiliate links at no cost to you*

The Optimum range is super affordable, Vegan and cruelty-free and aimed at the woman that wants budget skincare with good results.

This is what Superdrug says about the Optimum range

” Optimum is Superdrug’s high tech skincare range which uses technology and science to deliver cutting edge products at a high street price. The collection has been developed to harness the power of some of the beauty world’s most innovative, and effective ingredients and offer’s outstanding value. Everything in the Optimum range is cruelty-free and 100% vegan “

Optimum Multi Protecting serum

I’m going to start off with the items that I thought were most beneficial. The two shown above are my favourites from the collection. The Phytosurvive Multi-Protective Serum was a winner for me. I used it morning and night. There are two key ingredients in this serum that I found interesting.

Snow Algae Powder

Clinically proven to improve cellular metabolism and help stimulate the production of collagen.

Moist Boost

A slow release Hyaluronic Acid to deliver hydration

Hyaluronic acid is always one of my “top of the wish list” ingredients when it comes to skincare. The serum also contains Vitamin E and Pro-vitamin B.

I found after using this for a few weeks my skin did indeed feel hydrated. I didn’t use a night cream with the serum because I wanted to see results purely from what this serum could do for me.

Hydrate it does, but I don’t see a reduction in wrinkles at all. I did like it for the hydrating aspect though. I would buy this again too.

Optimum Sleepy Skin Booster Oil

The next item I tried, I loved. I have often tried beauty oils and they have often irritated my skin and I don’t like the overpowering smells. The Anti-Skin Stress Sleepy Skin Booster Oil turned out to be amazing. Key ingredients are

Four O’clock Flower cells and Caffeine

I used this oil on my face and neck (avoiding the eyes. I used it once and boy were they puffy the next day!) twice weekly and was really pleased with how plumped up my skin was after.

It was really soft and supple. This oil has a very faint smell of flowers, a bit like being in a garden of a freshly cut lawn is the only way I can describe it. But like I said. I’m super sensitive to oils and this worked really well for me.

I’ve also been using this oil on my cuticles and it’s helped them greatly too. I’m sure the bottle with its pipette was around £6.00 and I’m slightly annoyed that it’s not available online at present because if I were to recommend one item from this Optimum range, the oil would be it.

Optimum Swiss Ice Wine Face and Neck Cream

There's a little bit of everything in this post. Looking back on the last few weeks, what I've been up too, news, fashion and beauty etc.

PhytoFreeze

contains a unique active ingredient Vin-upLift based on premium Swiss Ice Wine produced from naturally frozen ripe grapes. This face and neck cream ( I’ve only used this on my neck so that I could try the other creams) worked quite well. I didn’t notice a huge difference but definitely some difference. Maybe over time, I would see more of a difference.

Acetyl Dipetide

Helps stimulate elastin synthesis to fight against skin sagging and improve skins resistance to gravity. The face and neck cream also contains Shea Butter and Pro-vitamin B5

I need all the help my neck can get! I rarely used creams on my neck until my forties and I’m definitely paying the price for that now. This cream has a barely-there floral scent to it. I found that the cream sunk straight into my skin on my neck rapidly. I always find that a good sign, and I do like it.

Optimum 3 in one Moisture Mask

At 56 years old I’m new to face masks! I’ve had them at beauticians and I remember trying the odd one or two in my younger years but apart from that, not many have touched my face.

“a Seaweed based Taurine, it has a clinically proven unique energising action, providing a fast anti-fatigue effect on the skin.
Illuminating Pearl boosts skin’s radiance for a luminous rosy glow.
Hyaluronic Acid is an exceptional moisturiser which helps to boost firmness and elasticity for smoother and suppler skin.
Creatine is an amino acid found naturally within the skin and helps promote healthy looking skin.”

This mask is clear when applied, a bit like a heavy moisturiser. I left it on for the recommended 10 minutes. You can use this as a primer or moisturiser too. I would use as a primer, there’s a nice sheen in the cream, but there is no SPF  so I would not use as a moisturiser.

After 10 minutes the results are good. It states to wipe away and that’s the process finished but I prefer to rinse off. The mask left my skin feeling soft and hydrated, a bit like it had been woken up. Definitely a good mask for brightening up your complexion.

My verdict

I’ve really enjoyed using the products and I would certainly buy some of these items again. The Sleepy Skin Booster Oil is very good and great value for money.

I also liked how my skin felt using the Multi-protecting Serum. And the 3 In One Moisture Balm, Primer and mask I found was very good used as a mask to give my skin a needed glow.

I like it that Superdrug supports the more mature woman when it comes to cosmetics and skincare. You may also remember that they did the # LifePlusReport?  You can read about that here. I was very pleased to be involved in that and the report was very interesting. I’m leaving on that note with a quote from Superdrug from that report.

“Gone are the days of the older customer blending into the background in favour of her youthful counterparts. While in the past the beauty industry may have shunned the over forties, even using twenty-something models in campaigns targeted towards older women, the time has come for women of every age to shine. Superdrug’s customer team is constantly listening to feedback to shape the business’s strategy to ensure it evolving alongside customer needs”

You can find the Optimum range at all Superdrug stores.
