Let me tell you about the day I spotted Joan Collins. No not in person! Her new beauty and makeup…
Shopping in Kingston Upon Thames just before Christmas, looking for slippers for the father in law I suddenly caught sight of some sparkle and glamour in the beauty section of Marks and Spencer. Very clever that. The men’s department is adjacent to the beauty section.
So as most women shopping with their other halves would say. “I’m just going to have a browse in the beauty section while you’re having your browse” And then hope they take as much time as possible!
Like a magpie, I headed straight to the glow of gold and glamour! I just had to find out what this brand was. And it was non-other than one of my favourite icons Joan Collins.
I was given two beauty and makeup books when I was the ripe age of fourteen. One was Barbara Daly and the other was Joan Collins. What I wouldn’t give to be in possession of those books now! I remember reading them over and over, devouring all the tips and tricks.
As soon as I recognised the brand name of all this shiny gorgeousness, I remembered thinking how typically glamourous the makeup was. Just what you would expect from such a glamorous person as Joan is. I set about feeling it all and checking out the colours. The makeup is produced for women of the ages of thirty and upwards and I was just so impressed by it all.
So on speaking to Marks and Spencer, they kindly offered me some gorgeous Joan Collins goodies for me to share with you lovely lot. And I couldn’t shout about these products enough! Not only are they excellent quality, quoted as a high-end national luxury brand plus, it’s as good as high-end brands. although not quite as expensive, the packaging is so glamorous.
Nail Lacquer and First Base Foundation
How cool is the nail polish (lacquer as Joan calls it) bottle! I love the vintage style bottle. And the First Base Foundation is all that it says it is. Containing Hylaronic acid, good for maturer skins, it sits very lightly on the skin, yet covers well. Paraben free too.
Suzy Star Divine Lipstick
I love the name! and very handbag worthy this one. It’s always nice to pop something glam out of your bag to show off in the ladies room too! But put the packaging aside, I’m very impressed at how well this stays on and it’s very soft and hydrating too. A good price at £18.00 and just take a look at the other colours available.
I used the double ended lip pencil first before applying the lipstick. I always find lining and then filling the lips with a pencil helps lipstick last longer. I’ve opted for a nude shade liner, so this doesn’t take away the shade of the lipstick. The pencil has a pony hair applicator brush, and that’s so handy to have. The liner contains Jojoba oil for softness.
Matching nails and lips!
Eye Definition Kit
I was blown away by this palette. The colours are perfect for me and I used it for eye makeup too. The pigment is really good quality and the applicators are so handy! The tweezers are actually magnetic, so they stay in the box and there is an eyebrow brush and eyeliner/eyebrow applicator included.
I used the first shade in the palette for the eyebrow colour
I used the blusher brush to cover the eyes with the highlighter shadow!
And then used the second shade for the eye socket
I don’t like using the little brushes that come with compacts for blushers. Instead, I used the brush for the eyeshadow. Loosely for the highlighter and I pressed the tuffs of hair together to provide a precision application. I just followed the eye socket line with the second colour in the palette
Then the eyeliner brush was used to apply the first colour as eyeliner
A couple of coats of mascara and then add the Bronzing powder for radiance
The beauty of this bronzing compact is that it carries the lipstick as well. The shade is perfect for me and not at all orange, and provides just the right amount of radiance. As I said earlier the colour pigment of all the makeup is good.
And the compact just looks so posh and glamorous! I love it!
I prefer to use a larger blusher brush and always keep one for touch ups in my handbag. It’s easier to start with a light application and build to the desired effect.
All done and ready to go! Joan has produced some fabulous makeup!
Do take a look at the Joan Collins makeup below. The skincare is next on my list, it looks very promising. I’m super pleased with my makeup. Thanks hugely to Marks and Spencer for this opportunity to share.
XO Laurie

Oh Laurie I think I still have a Joan Collins beauty book. I wasn’t into the make-up tips as much but her face masks used to keep me entertained for hours at the weekend as a teenager. I have to admit though I do like the look of the packaging. It definitely exudes glamour and as usual you make everything look so effortless. Thanks for linking. #TweensTeensBeyond

Old school is a good term to relate to! I love the glamour of it. Bold just like the 80’s!!
Ah this looks great!! I think I was sent some of this ages ago but the colours I was sent were a little red for my pale skin. The eye shadow palette looks perfect though and the overall look is amazing. Thanks for sharing with #bloggersbest x

I love the makeup and honestly, I’m surprised she didn’t do this sooner. Joan Collins has been an idol for women for DECADES. Also, she’s still as saucy now as she’s always been! We’d love for you to join our link up today!

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and so are these pictures! When reading this I was wondering if Joan Collins was even still living and if she is, how old she is. I will have to google it to find out. She seems to have been around a long time.

Yes. And so glam! I can’t wait to whip this out of my bag!
So glam and you look gorgeous bathed in Joan’s cosmetics. The packaging reminds me of Clarins, which is going to be at least twice as expensive. Shame I’m not still earning, I would have jumped into this new line. The shadows look the perfect colour range, love that it includes the little wedge applicator for lining with shadow. And so clever to put the blusher and lipstick together for neat and elegant handbag action. Love it!
Hugs, x.
I’ve tried the Joan Collins lipsticks and really liked them. Really nice and moisturising with very pretty colours.
‘Our Joan’ – an idol of mine too Laurie. The makeup looks and sounds fabulous, a bit of old fashioned glamour with staying power, what we all need! Thank you love this post xx
