Thirteen Beauty Items That I Totally Recommend

I’m sharing some beauty items with you today. Items that I highly recommend and I wouldn’t be without. I was going to title this post ten items and then I kept adding more! This list could go on and on! I will list the items below left to right to explain why I love having these items in my life. I will be doing a short video about these items and will leave a link to the vlog here when it’s finished. If you haven’t subscribed yet please do!

13 beauty products I recommend

These items I couldn’t be without and recommend 100%

Seche Vite Top Coat

I’ve been using this top coat for some time and I have never managed to find another that doesn’t keep my nail varnish intact longer than this. I use the Rimmel gel nail varnishes with this and it works a treat. Leaves a nice glossy finish too.

Silk Pillowcase

Ever since I have used this silk pillowcase my hair is less frizzy and the curls stay in place longer. I don’t have such a wrinkly face when I get up in the mornings either! My beloved kept pinching mine and I had to get another one! They feel so good! If you want to read more about the pillowcase you can find my post here

Elizabeth Arden Eight our Cream

If you have been a reader for a while then you will know how much I love this cream. If I were on a desert island and could only have one beauty item it would be this. I use it mainly on my lips and have never had dry lips since using it and that’s around twenty-five years! I’m sure it’s kept some lip lines at bay too. I couldn’t recommend this enough and a tube lasts over a year!

Derma Roller

I’ve been using a Derma Roller just over a year now. I use the tiniest of a roller and this is just enough to penetrate the skin to boost collagen production and help my serums do their work. If you want to read more about how this can really help your skin and give your anti-ageing beauty routine a boost then read here I really recommend you try this and the roller above is only £9.99

Simple Eye Make-Up Remover

Another product that I’ve used for years. It does what it says and doesn’t irritate my eyes. I’m very prone to sensitive eyes and a lot of eye makeup removers have irritated them in the past. Cheap as chips too!

The Aquis Hair Towel

I’ve been using my Aquis hair towel for over a year now. This is an oblong shaped piece of material (not towelling) that sucks all the wet out of your hair after washing. If you have long hair or thick hair these are an absolute godsend! It’s a flat woven material and not like towelling and this is not fictitious on the air when rubbed. Another cool item to keep the frizz at bay.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Lip Liner

If you want a lip colour to last all day then make it this one! I use it to not only line my lips but shade in with this too. It will last all day. Trust me! I don’t use this every day though as it can be a bit drying, but when I’m out for the day and need it to last this is what I use.

Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean Foaming Cleanser

I have used this for years! Can you tell I’m a huge Estee Lauder Fan? This cleanser foams up lovely and removes all my make up. I don’t feel the need to use a toner with it after either. I just foam it up and rinse and then use a flannel to wash the rest away. This never leaves my skin feeling dry, yet it’s always clean feeling.

Babyliss Cordless Gas Styler

This is a new item added to my kit. I received this for Christmas from the mother who knows me so well! After moaning down the phone about how I take my time to get ready to meet PR’s and you want to look your best yet after the journey and walking through London on a wet or damp day my hair turns to frizz and looks a complete mess! Now it will be a quick visit to the ladies to sort it out with these gas styling tongs. I had these years ago and don’t know why I haven’t thought of them before!

A Good Magnifying Mirror

Boots do good magnifying light up mirrors but when I looked at the one’s TK Maxx had to offer, these were even better! Not nice to look into I might add, but for plucking hairs and doing my eye makeup they are a godsend. You can see even the tiniest lightest of hairs with the one I have and now my eyesight’s not so good it’s a really handy piece of kit. The one I have is x8

Skin Doctor’s Potent Vit. C Day And Night

I’m keeping these two products as one item because they work together so well! I’ve been using these for around a month now and they have made my skin feel like silk. Deeply nourishing for the skin and the potent C signals the skin to promote collagen. So far I have loved using these creams day and night and will be buying again for sure. One little capsule is all you need and there is 50 in each jar

Look Fabulous Forever Face Prime

This was my find of 2017 and I absolutely love it. This primer that I apply to my face before my foundation is an absolute miracle maker. It provides a really good silky smooth base to skin and I’m sure my wrinkles don’t seem so noticeable. If you haven’t tried a base primer before do give this one a try. If you haven’t seen my vlog yet applying this you can find it here showing how to apply a simple day makeup

So there they are. My top thirteen recommended items. I hope you find the info useful and do tell if there is anything you couldn’t live without and recommend in your beauty routine.

Xo Laurie

Hi Laurie thanks for a great list and it is always good to get recommendations. I like the idea of the Derma Roller and I’m a Look Fabulous Forever fan as well. Thanks for sharing at #BloggingGrandmothersLinkParty although if we keep using these products we won’t look like grandmothers will we? LOL:)

Interesting to hear about the silk pillowcase and its effect – I have serious bedhead most mornings, but I’m not sure if a pillowcase could do it for me! thanks for sharing with #PoCoLo

I love Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream – I have several tubes around the house. My daughter uses it on scrapes and chafed skin. I’m a big fan of the lip moisturiser from the same range too. I really want to try a silk pillowcase. Thanks for linking up!

I’m liking the sound of the Skin Doctor capsules, Laurie. I use Elizabeth Arden Capsules and love them but always like to mix things up plus it says you get 50 of the SD ones as opposed to only 30 of EA for £40! xo

I couldn’t live without my shellac nails. I get them done fortnightly and they look perfect and I don’t even have to think about them in between. I am also a fan of Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish for my face. I also love a good face oil. Pen x #brilliantblogposts

Thanks for stopping by Louisa. Both of these are great for frizzy hair. If you were to try just one, make it the pillowcase. xx

  18. January 12, 2018 / 9:11 am

I’ve been debating getting a silk pillowcase as my hair gets really frizzy but wasn’t sure if it was a myth or not. Good to know it works thanks!

I feel your pain Maria! This happens to me so often! Do take a look, it might save having to shoot twice like I sometimes have to. And when it’s windy? Oh don’t even go there! xx

  20. January 11, 2018 / 3:05 pm

Laurie, thanks for sharing you must-have items. I need to look into some of these items like the cordless gas styler and the face prime. I have never used a primer before, but now that I am well into my 40’s, I am noticing some definite changes on in that area and I may need to change up my products.

I’m picking up quite a few tips here, Laurie. I’d been hearing about the wonders of silk pillow cases, so when I came across some cheap ones in the sales recently, I didn’t hesitate. It’s a miracle, but they do actually work. xxx
